Description: | This workshop is open to teachers worldwide who have taken a 2-week or longer Modeling Workshop in 1st semester chemistry content,or have used Modeling Instruction in chemistry for a few years. We will begin by debriefing your modeling experiences thus far and re-visiting updates to the "Core" Chemistry units. Then we will move on to our exciting "Beyond the Core" Units: Unit 10 - Models of the Atom Unit 11 - Periodic Table and Bonding Unit 12(b) - Intermolecular Attractions and Biological Macromolecules Unit 13 - Chemical Equilibrium Unit 14 - Acids & Bases. An overview is at the AMTA webpage on curriculum storylines. You may either work to get hours towards re-certification or earn graduate credit. Teachers worldwide can apply to reserve a seat for non-credit. $400 registration fee (reduced to $200 for teachers who must pay out of pocket and cannot get reimbursed). CEUs. Other Prerequisites: | Prerequisite: a Modeling Workshop in 1st semester chemistry content of 2 weeks or longer duration (3 weeks preferred: 90 contact hours), or a few years' experience implementing the chemistry Modeling Instruction curriculum. |
