Department/Unit: Science
City: Carmel
State: IN
Opportunity Type: Modeling Workshop
Teacher Status: Inservice

Peer leader: Erica Posthuma-Adams
Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm each day

The workshop is sponsored by the Northern Indiana Science, Mathematics and Engineering Collaborative (NISMEC) for Indiana teachers of physics, chemistry, physical science and math.

Additional Modeling Workshops in summer 2014 include:
  • A 1-week introduction to Modeling instruction in mechanics, July 14 to 18
  • A 1-week intermediate workshop in mechanics, July 21 to 25
  • Both are at Guerin Catholic High School in Noblesville, and are led by Hugh Ross.

[Feb. 2014: we do not recommend the NISMEC workshops at Hammond, and at Evansville, as ways to learn Modeling Instruction, because the peer leaders have not had sufficient training to meet AMTA standards for depth of understanding of Modeling Instruction.]
