We seek to double the number of physics teachers graduating from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Science degree in physics secondary education or a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree. We will create a variety of promotional and recruitment materials and distribute the materials to a wide array of potential physics teachers through a number of recruiting venues. Students will be recruited through two early teaching experiences: as Supplemental Instruction leaders and with placements in local schools. A Part-Time Teacher-In-Residence (PT-TIR) will be hired to facilitate the early teaching experiences, attend recruiting events, and provide career mentoring and counseling to the physics secondary education and MAT students. During the first year, an MAT student will be hired in lieu of a PT-TIR to attend recruiting events and work with the undergraduate students in the early teaching experiences.
Salisbury University named a PhysTEC Local Teacher of the Year in 2019.
