|Description:||Over a 7-week period in the summer (June 30-August 15, 2008), participating teachers are engaged full-time in hands-on nanotechnology related research under the guidance of center faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students. Weekly group meetings, laboratory tours, and seminars expand the learning experience. Participants also work with the program director to develop innovative projects that introduce nanotechnology in the classroom.|
Benefits and Requirements
|Benefit Explanation:||Participants are awarded a stipend of $8,000.
Additionally, teachers interested in ongoing professional development have an opportunity to learn about nanotechnology and discover ways to share this knowledge with their students.
|Citizenship Requirement:||U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Legal Resident
|Other Prerequisites:||Applicants must be currently employed as a K-12 science teacher or community college science faculty, and have a bachelor's degree in the physical sciences or engineering.|
