The University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Physics offers two options for those interested in the Teaching of Physics:
We offer a Bachelors of Science in the Teaching of Physics combines the best of the Bachelors of Science degree with K-12 certification with specialization in physics. The degree fulfills the state certification requirements to teach both physics and general science.
The department offers several undergraduate research opportunities both during the academic year and the summer in the form of paid internship awards.
The Masters of Education in the Teaching of Physics is an accelerated one-year program providing K-12 certification with specialization in physics. Candidates for the M.Ed.–Physics degree are also eligible for departmental teaching assistantships, which provide a stipend as well as a waiver of tuition and most fees.
