Supported Site Seattle Pacific University: Program Data

The project collects data on the number of PhysTEC Graduates, PhysTEC Future Teachers, PhysTEC Learning Assistants, and PhysTEC Mentors; these PhysTEC terms are defined here. The project also collects data on physics pedagogy courses, early teaching experiences, and enrollment in K-8 physical science courses for future elementary school teachers.

Commentary on Graduates data

  • These are all graduates who will begin classroom teaching on or before Fall 2009.
  • We can only place an upper limit on the number of PhysTEC secondary graduates prior to 2005-06 because we are unable to obtain information on the academic major of students graduating prior to the beginning to the project.
  • We have considered a major in astronomy or mechanical engineering to represent preparation equivalent to a minor in physics. We have not considered a major in electrical engineering to be equivalent.

  • We have included enrollment data for all of the introductory science courses that have been reformed by PhysTEC faculty.
